Weekly Update

Some Announcements
  • Add the course fair to your calendar. It is on Feb. 2, between 6 and 7:30 p.m. (Come and go.)
  • Be sure to order your yearbook, if you have not done so already. Here is a link to order online.
  • For the latest information about what's going on in class, visit my wiki. It is updated several times each day.
  • Visit the publications web site to verify your name for the yearbook, submit ideas, get senior ad information or order your 2010 yearbook.
This Week in Class
  • In English I, we are taking our fourth vocabulary test on Tuesday. Click here to see the words and definitions. A printable version, with pictures, is available here, too. We are also finishing up our Poetry Portfolios this week. Click here to see the assignment details.

  • In Yearbook, we are working hard on deadline five. It is our second to last one... the yearbook will be finished in March.

This week in class
  • In English I, we are continuing our work on poetry. Students are encouraged to bring a song they like to analyze tomorrow.
  • In Journalism I, we are continuing our work marketing classes for the course fair. The students have come up with some really neat idea. To see their project web sites (still in their infant stages), click here.
  • In Yearbook, we are hard at work on deadline 4. It is January 22.

Weekly Update

Some Announcements
  • Today is the first day of the third six weeks.
  • Thanksgiving break begins next Wednesday, Nov. 25.
  • You can stay caught up on what is going on in my class by visiting the wiki.
This Week in Class
  • In English I, we are continuing to study Homer's Odyssey, updating our college essays and practicing writing short answers.
  • In Journalism I, we are continuing our study of visual communication. Students are taking turns working on two projects: laying out a spread using InDesign and finding examples of good pictures to use in a PowerPoint called Picture Perfect
  • In Yearbook, we are working hard on deadlines one and two. This means about half the book will be finished in the next month, including all portraits. It's lots of work, but it looks good.
