Weekly Update

We have had many absences due to the flu this year.

If one of my journalism or English students is absent, the first place they should look for make up work is my wiki. I update it several times each day, and it has everything we do in class, including PowerPoints and handouts for download.

This Week in Class
  • In English I this week, we are starting a Greek Mythology WebQuest. The whole project is available on-line. Here is the link, so you can check it out.
  • In Journalism I, we are writing a news/feature story. Since it is our first, the students are doing it together as a group. We are starting with story planning and I hope to have interviews scheduled and conducted by the end of the week. You can find more details at the wiki.
  • In Yearbook, we are making the final push for deadline one. The students are doing a great job. Be sure to congratulate your son or daughter for working hard. They all are.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please e-mail me at lhearnsberger@newbraunfels.txed.net.

Classroom Update

I have a few on-line resources for parents and students. Please check them out, and let me know what you think.
  • You already know about the blog, since you're here.
  • You can visit my web page for class information and schedules. I update it periodically, but not as often as this blog.
  • I also have a wiki that I use to post assignments. If your student is absent, there is a good chance that you will find the missing assignments there. Just follow the links to your student's class.
  • You can also visit the new publications web site to get current information on ordering yearbooks, senior ads and contributing content, such as senior quotes.
This Week in Class
  • In English I this week, we are focusing on the benchmark. We are annotating the selections in preparation for the school-wide test on Wednesday.
  • In Journalism I, we are creating interactive projects that teach the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics to participants.
  • In Yearbook, we are still working on student access to the server via their own accounts, but they are making great progress despite the limited access.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please e-mail me at lhearnsberger@newbraunfels.txed.net.
